Hello Home Streeters,
We have been in Nova Scotia for 4 months and have two more left. We have had a great time so far. The first few months we spent recovering from our major renovation at our house on Canora, including physiotherapy for my elbow. MeiMei started school and after a few scary days, she has been loving it. She made the volleyball team, so that really helped with the transition. On the weekends we have toured Nova Scotia as much as possible. We have been from one end to the other, and seen whales, seals, and lots of other sea creatures. We drove the Cabot trail and walked along lots of beaches, etc. The area we are living in is the Annapolis valley, so it is rich in food! Everything is grown here, including lots of apples, pears, and veggies. We are also right on the Bay of Fundy, with its world record tides. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t see a bald eagle or golden eagle. Don has been at Acadia University doing research. He is enjoying trying some new things and meeting some new colleagues. I’ve been doing a variety of things: volunteering at a food bank two days a week, knitting, reading, feeding birds, cooking and baking. We are loving being around Ben this year. We have shown him parts of Nova Scotia he has never had the chance to see, and have gotten to know his world here. He isn’t living with us, but in an apartment with three of his teammates and friends. He eats with us often. We are really thankful to have this opportunity to watch Ben play a season of basketball. We understand why he chose Acadia to study and play, but miss watching him play in person. It has been a blessing to be with him this year. We have had visits from some friends and family from Winnipeg. Our Nova Scotia Christmas was much warmer than the Winnipeg Christmas. We have had bits of snow, but it has always melted so far. Not sure what the weather will be like for the next few months, but we know that lots of snow is always a possibility here. Blessing to all of you. We miss you and are looking forward to seeing you all again in March. Jan (for the Millers) |
